FAQs

All you need to know about coming to stay at Elemental!

If your question is not answered here, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Do you allow camping?

Although we are not a campsite, we do allow camping for private groups. We have flat parking space for camper-vans and lots of grassy space for tents. Our garden bathroom with shower cubicle, compost toilet plus large community rooms, means mixed groups can have a comfortable stay throughout the seasons. Family groups can book all kinds of accommodation options to suit their budgets whilst enjoying a short break together!

What are your opening times?

We are very flexible in our approach at this stage but our typical operating hours will be from 1pm until 9pm, Thursday until Sunday, when there is an event or workshop for the public to attend. Of course this is negotiable! Private retreats can run from a couple of days to a whole week and so the space is then open for our attendees to enjoy throughout their stay, according to prior arrangements.

Is this a community garden?

Not as you might traditionally know a community garden to be. We like to say, we're more focused on growing our connections and creativity than we are on growing carrots! However, a food forest is still part of the long term dream as is having the garden be abundant with herbs and flowers as we grow. Right now, we are focused on making our space somewhere that local community think of when seeking interesting workshops, venue hire, celebration space and in looking for somewhere that supports holistic health and well-being. We see ourselves as an ongoing creative exploration space and somewhere to escape the rat race!

What are the Check-in and Check-out times?

We like to give you as much flexibility as possible, so you can enjoy your stay without rushing! With prior confirmation, early check-in and late check-out can usually be accommodated -- or you can enjoy the garden and shared indoor spaces even if your room is not quite ready. For weekend retreat packages, we allow for check-out of 4pm on Sunday, so you can fully enjoy the day!

Can we book accommodation or a retreat for a group?

We can accommodate small groups to experience the retreat together. With two comfortable and private Tiny Homes, each with a Queen Bed, you can book a retreat for up to four people, subject to availability. We also have Campervan parking, a fully self-contained basement flat, some "glamping sheds" and plenty of tent space, for fun, rustic back to nature gatherings with your group of choice. If your group is larger than this, such as for bridal showers, or corporate packages, then other options are available: e.g. day-retreats, or offsite accommodation partners, with prices negotiable to reflect this. Contact us to discuss what would suit you!

Are pets welcome?

Yes, your pet companions are welcome by prior arrangement! Please note, the property is not fully fenced or gated and they remain your responsibility at all times.

Is Food Included in Retreat Packages?

While food is additional, there are a range of options, fully customisable to your personal requirements and budget. Choose from BYO, juice fast, eat out, companion cook and chat, take-away, meals on wheels (we can collect your Rangiora take-away choice and deliver to your door). Optional extra: Ohoka Market welcome treat platter for your arrival.
